The recent decades have been witnessing series of technological developments and educational advancements that has been a boon for the Indian Economy . However , these developments also have an adverse effect on sourcing man power to do farming as well. It has been a challenge for the farmers to get people to do daily chores especially in coconut farms , the most significant routine being the post coconut plucking activity - Dehusking.
The conventional methodology involves labour intensive work like using simple tools to dehusk coconuts off their Exocarp and Mesocarp layers - in simple words shelling off the coconut from its outer fibrous layer . This process is the biggest challenge for Coconut Traders and Oil Mills wherein the coconut dehusking is a major process.
This scenario inspired Boss Machinery Works (BMW) to produce a highly user friendly device to dehusk coconuts Boss De - DEHUSKER, an efficient coconut dehusker that is customised to cater the needs of the coconut farmers. The machine was designed economically to make it cheaper than existing machines in the segment . The coconut husk as a bi product is naturally pretreated to simplify the coir manufacturing process . The machine is designed to accommodate different sizes of the coconut that are cultivated anywhere in the world. Also, various experiments have been conducted on both dry and mature coconuts in order to determine the force required to de - husk the coconut.
